With more than 500 attendees, the prestigious global e-Commerce event could create huge opportunities that contributes to the development of e-commerce, especially Magento in Asia. In Vietnam, e-commerce has become one of the hottest topics for companies, consumers and the government even though the transformation process from pure offline business to a more holistic approach started only 3-4 years ago.
The first Meet Magento in Asia was held in Vietnam because this is the potential market with one third of the population regularly access the Internet. 2015 is forecasted to be a booming year of e-commerce with the estimated turnover of 4 billion U.S. dollars for total online goods, as stated by eMarketer. Over 10 years of development, currently Vietnam e-commerce has a good platform and market for expansion. Meet Magento dedicates to acting as the bridge for Vietnam to join international workshops and sharing experience with worldwide partners and rapidly access to Magento.
During this event, Huu-Linh Tran from VECITA explained in detail how Vietnamese companies use internet for business, what they expect from e-Commerce and how much they invest. Huu-Linh Tran is the Director of Vietnam E-Commerce and Information Technology Agency, part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Thomas Goletz, co-founder of Meet Magento Association has stated in his article about Meet Magento Vietnam 2015 that “while some merchants are already very experienced in online business, we had a huge number of companies just starting eCommerce outside of the usual marketplaces.
