SmartOSC has been given an Honorable Mention for Most Sophisticated Implementation in the 2020 Sitecore Experience Awards for its work with Ricoh Asia Pacific.
The Sitecore Experience Awards (SEA) are held annually and celebrate brands that build digital experiences for their customers using Sitecore®️ technology. Following on from winning the award in 2018, SmartOSC was recognised this year for its use of Sitecore’s powerful eCommerce tools to deploy a new digital platform for Ricoh Asia Pacific, which Sitecore said showcased “the complex capabilities and scalability that Sitecore enables for organizations and brands”.
Ricoh is a market leader in document management solutions, IT services, communications services, commercial and industrial printing, digital cameras, and industrial systems. Founded in 1936, Ricoh now provides support to more than 1.4 million companies across 200 countries and has annual global sales of $18.5 billion. In 2019, Ricoh Asia Pacific decided to revamp its regional website to be more customer-centric, and approached Digital Transformation agency SmartOSC for help.
To deliver a new and improved site suitable for 9 different countries in Asia-Pacific, SmartOSC leveraged Sitecore Commerce 8.2.1 for its powerful site-building capabilities and SEO marketing tools. In the interest of overhauling Ricoh’s content synchronisation, too, SmartOSC introduced content migration to a centralised Content Repository, leading to faster time-to-market delivery for quick rollout in each country in the region.
Finally, SmartOSC focused on personalising the customer experience for visitors to Ricoh’s new site. This involved identifying different types of end-users and segmenting them across industry verticals, and then creating custom proﬁles to provide tailored content to each type of user. This, along with a reconfiguration of Ricoh’s search function and download assets reports, generated more customer data which could be used for detailed analytics to help deliver relevant and engaging content to the customers.

The Sitecore Experience Awards are the platform’s own way of recognising brands that have delivered outstanding digital experiences with Sitecore in the last year. SEA 2020 Honorable Mentions were selected as they demonstrated to the judges that they used Sitecore solutions to make notable impact in terms of experience or content management, of which SmartOSC’s solution for Ricoh Asia was ruled to be a perfect example.
