Despite the company’s impressive size, the website was running on Magento 1, leaving it too outdated to scale effectively and vulnerable to security threats. Additionally, online-to-offline connectivity was lacking in the Index Living shopping experience, making for a customer journey that was far from seamless. Index Living wanted to invest more in eCommerce to build the foundations for future expansion and also improve the omnichannel shopping experience. This meant upgrading to Magento 2.
The old website was upgraded to Magento 2, which greatly enhanced the overall loading speed and provided a much more secure and safe website. The upgrade has also set the stage for Index Living’s future expansion, which was not possible with Magento 1.
The customer experience was overhauled by running the website on PWA headless. This advanced technology allowed SmartOSC to shape a high-quality and accessible web app. This work also necessitated transporting the site to a new PWA structure and covering the previous PWA codes, both of which were carried out successfully.
The new systems were integrated with the company’s ERP, making employees’ jobs easier and reducing human errors.
They were also integrated with third parties to improve Index Living’s delivery performance. With a complex array of products, different and complex delivery options are required. For example, Index Living ships all products in the décor category, while third-party shipping companies deliver furniture items. The new integration means shipping is automatically assigned to the correct vendor and shipped quickly.
The enhanced website allowed Index Living to launch a new ‘Buffet’ promotion. This promotion allowed customers to buy whatever they wanted within a set number of items for the same price.
