SmartOSC Commences Work on Melissa Singapore’s Revamped Magento Ecommerce Site

Melissa is an iconic global footwear brand founded in Sao Paolo, Brazil in 1979. The company uses its patented, sustainably sourced MELFLEX plastic to create radical yet classically-inspired designs, often collaborating with well-known fashion designers to reinvent their styles. Melissa sold 32 million pairs of shoes in over 70 countries over the past decade.

In August 2019, Melissa Singapore appointed SmartOSC to implement an overhaul of their branded eCommerce site. Robust improvements and integrations called for an equally sturdy and powerful platform, so Magento was chosen to deliver what Melissa needed to better serve its customers within the region.

The project will involve several phases, each serving a distinct purpose across multiple customer segments.

The new branded e-store, starting with speed and performance optimisations and a redesign of each individual page, will seek to improve the overall customer experience and sales opportunities for the brand. Customer accounts will be revamped to allow for easy reordering, shareable lists and loyalty point redemption, while order management, product and promotion management will be streamlined on the backend to improve efficiency and productivity.

More importantly, the site will be developed to be more responsive across all devices, with particular focus on enhancing the mobile experience so customers are delivered a uniform brand experience regardless of how or where they shop. A significant part of the work will focus on integrations with the brand’s new loyalty programme and marketing automation system from Oracle to boost marketing effectiveness. Other integrations will include Instagram Shop setup, along with business intelligence tools like Google Analytics and Tag Manager to provide more accurate customer and shopping insights.

A multi-currency payment gateway will be included to ensure unencumbered international purchases while an improved return management system will be added to enrich the return process with multiple return options. Increased on-site support functionality is anticipated later in the project.

The new site will offer better stability and CX, and allow the company to manage the webstore more efficiently while collecting valuable data for continued improvement. Melissa Singapore customers can look forward to the new site being tentatively launched in late 2019.
